GOALS

The Center for Creative Aging - North Carolina (CCA-NC) seeks to change the culture of aging in North Carolina by:

1. Providing quality training and education.

2. Developing programming and disseminating resource materials concerning creative aging.

3. Serving as a clearing house for the exchange of information regarding creativity and aging.

4. Encouraging efforts to document the role of creative expression in the lives of older people.

TRAINING & EDUCATION

Caregivers face many challenges. They need access to support networks, training, and the most current information and programming related to healthy aging. The CCA-NC currently provides educational workshops to older aults and professionals in the aging field. Our center also provides hands-on training for geriatric caregivers working in any setting. All of our trainers are certified and are experienced program instructors, for we believe that active, experienced instructors make the best trainers.

RESOURCE MATERIALS

The CCA-NC aims to become a central resource center on creative aging in North Carolina. Information will be provided on professional licensure credit course availability for care providers, continuing education classes for the elderly, opportunities to participate in community events, interest groups and related committees, and legislative and regulatory information as it relates to older North Carolinians and their caregivers.

PROGRAMMING

Programs are offered by CCA-NC certified professionals in the Piedmont Triad area only. Instructors travel to senior centers, nursing homes, and adult day care centers to offer instruction in painting, storytelling, music and more.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARTNERSHIP

The CCA-NC seeks opportunities to collaborate with geriatric service providers, universities, art organizations, advocates for the elderly, and medical facilities to improve creative expression opportunities for seniors in North Carolina.
